Carb Question 84 FXRT

I Recently bought a set of ThunderHeaders for my 84 FXRT. The old pipes are done after 57k miles.
Went to a local shop to see about installing them and rejetting the carb, air filter etc.to get it running correctly. They told me I have a Kehin CV Carb (factory carb on it now). I thought it was a butterfly style. Can anyone give me the straight deal? Want to make sure they know what they are doing.

If it is the original carb, it is the butterfly type. I can't remember the year that they came out with the CV type carb, but I know it was after 1985. Mine is a 1985 and it came with the butterfly carb, which has since been replaced with an S&S Super E.

I thought so but I didn't want to get into an argument with the shop since they assured me in no uncertian terms that it was a CV....So I guess I will look elswhere....Everything I have read indicates the CV was first used on HD' in 88. Thanks for the info

Why couldnt you have a factory Keihin? Are you the only owner? If you are then I understand, if not....

I do have the factory Kehin on the bike and I plan on leaving it so. I was just concerned because the shop insisted that it was a CV card. What I meant is that I will have someone else do the work because I am not sure I want them working on my bike....Thanks for the reply
