Need help with Mikuni

my fxrp has a mikuni and the small tube that comes out of the bottom of the float bowl and just hangs below the motor, a overflow drain???. is pouring gas when i turn the petcock on,
this just happened this morning as i warmed her up for a ride.
looked down and my right foot is in a pool of gas
can anyone tell me what to do, this tube has driped when the bike is not running and the petcock is left on.
now if i turn on the gas it comes out of the tube full force....

If gas runs out the minute you turn on the petcock you have a stuck or badly adjusted float. If you go to the mikuni site you can download the manual for your carb. Adjustment is easy.

More. Check the needle and seat in the bowl. Check for wear and debris. You might see a bad needle. Check to see if the float moves freely and check the float to see if it has a hole, might be filling with gas. If you see debris in the bowl, check your fuel filter.

It will most likely be a worn or dirty needle making the float stick, had this drama not to long ago.

Took the needle out & it was rough on all sides, you can get away with giving it a rub with a light emery paper BUT it will be an ongoing problem.

I just got a full rebuild kit for it,it includes a new needle & seat & all other parts & gaskets, runs smoother & revs crisper now too.

*Take note there are companys selling Mikuni rebuild kits that are knock offs made in India.*

Only buy genuine

I got this kit- http://www.mikunioz.com/hsr_carb_parts.htm

It means it was doing it's job.
Thats your overflow release and it means that your float needle was stuck open.
Most likely from sitting a long time without riding.
To unseat it, just get a small hammer and tap on the float bowl a few times,
The needle will then come loose and function fine.
If your scoot has been sitting for sometime, throw a cup of carb cleaner into the tank to remove any varnish in the carb.

hey guys what’s up, im not tiring to steal this thread but I was having the same issue so I did the rebuild kit, cleaned the hell out of that thing and let me tell you it was a world of a difference now when its on idle I could give almost full throttle and it barley hesitates. The only problem im having is that I can't seem to adjust the idle to go under 1500 rpm any suggestions??
