Float adjustment on a cv carb

What is the right way to set the float level on cv carb? I can't seem to get it right, either gas pukes out of carb into air cleaner or runs out of gas and sputters at 3500-4000 rpms. Thanks!

Put it on the bench upside down with the float to your right; and the float cover off; tilt the carb about 15 degs to the side and the float should be in the up or closed position.
