Clogged Jets?

Had to let the bike sit for several months last year without proper preperation due to a short fuse deployment. She starts fine but I get sputtering and backfiring at all speeds/RPM's when I'm riding. If I give it 1/4 to 1/2 Choke the sputtering/backfiring mostly stops. Some of my friends who are wrenchers think the jets got clogged while I was away. I drained the tank and refiled with 92 Octane (as always) and ran some seafoam through it but no luck. I'm trying to avoid putting her in the shop or tearing into the carb - would going in with some gumout spray do any good?

Thanks,

Dave

I had an FXR that did that, I used an old car trick. I know I will get flamed for suggesting this, but here goes. Crank it up with the breather off, then rev it up and put your hand over the carb, while continuing to open the throttle, sometimes that will suck the trash or dried gas out of the system, worked on mine.

Probably a pilot jet with a partial clog. See it many times in the spring...Simple repair though maybe try yourself?

Pretty straightforward job? Can this be done without removing the carb from the bike? Any info that might get me started on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave
