Help on this

My wife has a 2000 883 hugger, stock. We have gone through 4 accel pumps, this year alone. Any idea what might be the problem? I had the carb rebuilt too, but it just blew another pump.
Thanks

Need a better understanding of "Blown".

Do you mean torn ?

Or what ???

And you are talking about the acc pump rod "rubber diaphram"..

More info please...

Yes, there is always a tear in the soft diaphram. Not on an edge but in the middle of the material.

Thanks

In the middle of diaphram is a metal disc on both sides. The diaphram has a lip that only installs one way (lip up) into under-cut.
That sounds like what you have right ???

On yer CV carb linkage connecting to the acc pump is there a rod connected with a long spring on it ?? This prevents the pump rod from being pressed down too far.

(this is where I think yer issue is)

I wish I could see a picture of what ya got.

Your linkage must be screwed up.

(sound silly but) The acc pump rod is not home-made is it ?? Could be too long. Which would steadily damage diaphrams.
