Dumb Question from a new guy

I have a 1994 FXSTS with the split tanks and I'm interested in finding out what it would take to change to the newer single tank. It sure seems like fueling up would be alot easier. Also, while I'm changing tanks, is there an easy way to mount a softail custom front fender on a springer front end? There just seem to be so many more cool paint sets for the softail custom than the springer.....and I LOVE my springer!!! The dealers don't seem to know what interchanges with what, or if there any brackets available. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! Be gentle....I'm an OLD dude! Had to wait till the kids were grown and gone to finally get the bike I wanted.

CONGRATS on yer new bike.. No such thing as dumb question.

Your speed-o cable comes up thru the frame to speed-o.

1 piece tank does not.(can-not)

And mounting points are different.

Not saying it can't be done, just would require mods, & $..

HD is calling our older Evos "obsolete" & as such. They seem reluctant to mess with them. Maybe the new kids @ HD just don't have a clue..

IMO You would be better off finding an independent shop with a very good reputation, if you do not do your own work..

Thumbs up

PS: Filling split tanks, always fill the L tank (Kick-stand side) first & replace cap. Then fill the other tank, cap it, ride & enjoy.

This gives ya both full tanks..

If you re-set the trip meter to "0" at each fill up, you know you should be good for 100 miles (at least) & in time you will have a better idea of how much fuel ya have @ how many miles & etc...
