dreed wants to know Dino or Syn?
sportster will not start

2000 sportster 2500 miles. started it rode it about a 1/4 mile started running rough backfired a couple of times. it died and will not start. i pulled plugs and they were dry. i know its not flooded. sprayed a little starting fluid in carburator and it fired up. any ideas where to start . it has gas and i tried inboth positions reserve and reg

not sure if your bike has the vacume petcock or not if it does that is where I would start.

Definitely sounds like your not getting fuel. Sounds like it has sat a lot(00 with 2500). Is the fuel old?

Well if petcock checks out ok & stale gas is not problem either,
You may have intake leak, or need to clean out carb...

Another thing to check is to, see if fuel line flows good. They can become swelled inside over time, & certainly inhibit flow..

ceck fuel vacume pipe both ends ,fuel tank to oil tank
