Carb cleaner fuel additives
Hey guys,
I have a 2001 FXDX Dyna Super Glide Sport (carburated), and inadvertantly left a tank full of gas in it this past winter with no stabilizer added. It's running fine but I'm wondering if those over-the-counter Fuel Injector/Carburetor Cleaners do any good. Does anyone use them on a regular basis, and if so, how often, and do you know for a fact that they are useful? I use 91 octane regularly.
Thanks in advance.

Agreed. But since the potential 'damage' is done, I'm wondering if anyone has found these additives to be effective/beneficial.

I add Sea Foam as directed to the tank & fill my tank to the top at the end of the season to prevent moisture, Sea Foam is also a stabalizer, dryer & a great induction cleaner all in one. great product cost about $6 at most auto parts stores. I use this in all my motors never any carb or fuel issues..

Burn it out and fill it up with fresh. No issues.

I'll second on the Sea Foam. Bought my wife's bike from a guy that had it sitting for 3 years. Lot's of gum in the carb.
We put Sea Foam in the tank (with new gas), pulled the plug wires and turned the engine over until I could smell the stuff in the exhaust. Let is sit overnight and then rode the tank out. Did the same a second time. Bike runs like new.

Seafoam is good but I'll tell you what's better, Techron. It's made by Chevron and it's available at Autozone. It's pricey(7 bucks) but it's the best I think.

Better yet, I just took my petcock out to clean the filter and you wouldnt believe what the gas looked like. It was full of trash so I flushed clean gas thru the tank. As long as the pilot jet isnt pluggged from the old gas, just ride it. Youll know if it is, it will only run on the choke
