nice looking bike ... sat on one at the factory was surprised it was rather comfortable ..like that backrest/ luggage rack too...
My boy bought a XB12R just before Laconia (3 Days) this June and has 6600 miles on it already.. one rear tire and a new front on the way...other than that oil changes..

Congrats bike and thanks for the pics. The more I read about the XB12x it does have me thinking that Buell may have finally figured things out. Please post your feedback after you've had a chance to log some miles on it.

600 miles on the X, avg. 49mpg. Got some bitches but they are minor. So far I have to say the bike is f*[<ing awesome, did both twisties and some highway duty. A far better bike than my S3t or Cyclone, just waiting for the saddlebags to arrive. As an informative note, the Cycle World article on the X rings true.

I have been looking this one over very hard, as it looks like it would be a real blast to ride.
All the press is very favorable. What are the minor complaint's?

I have not had any time to ride the last week or so, (daughter got married, raining, blah, blah), my suggestion is to look up the issue of Cycle World with their test ride of the XBx. From my experience in the 800 mi. that I have put on to this point I feel the article in the mag is spot on, the front tire absolutely swims at most speeds, not hair raising as much as it is very annoying and suspect I will change it and the rear to street specs in the spring. Steering lock is much too short on degrees and if you're not used to this it will take some getting used to. There is a 30 day lead time for the hard bags (still waiting for mine). Suspension baseline adjustments were totally wrong from the factory. The detent for the rear rest/rack does not work. It has the 2 year warranty so I am not concerned about the little things. As a final note, I must say that the good things stated in the article are also true and far outwiegh anything I could whine about, this is by far the best Buell I have owned and am very pleased with it.

Any further impressions on the XB12X? I'm trying real hard to convince my wife we need a second bike. Looks like it would make a great commuter general purpose everyday machine.

1600 miles so far (working too much). Been running the highways, avg. 80-85mph., smooth at that speed. Does'nt like to run below 2000rpm, a bit jerky but I don't normally run that low in the rpms. The front tire swimming at speed seems to be less as the mileage increases but I will still go to street rubber in the spring. Windshield will rattle a little at certain vibes. I have noticed that there is a tread mark on my chin spoiler from the front tire, not sure how it did it as I have been good and done no stoppies yet, does wheelie like a twin should but I put the front end down easy, I'm assuming the engine moving on the rubber mounts at the right time when the planets are aligned may have caused it. Thats enough bitchin for now, I must say that most of my whining seems trivial to me as I feel this is an excellent motorcycle. The suspension is superb, you can absolutely use all of the tires on the twisties, brakes are phenomenal. I usually run the bike till the tank goes to reserve (about 2-2.5 hours) non-stop, comfort is better than expected. Still waiting for the hard bags.

I have done 750 miles on my new Uly since picking it up last Thursday evening. Gotta say that I love this bike, especially riding 2 up. My M2 just seems overburdened when my wife and I are on it. The tall suspension and extra long seat is awesome. Went on the ride (solo) w/ the Lakeland BRAG group on Saturday and had no trouble keeping up. I actually feel like I can corner faster on it than on the Cyclone.
The only problem I have had has been a check engine light on a few occasions. I am scheduled for my 1000 mile first maintenance on Monday and will have them read the error codes then. I did read something about someone getting a check engine light on www.badweatherbikers.com. It was a bad exhaust valve servo motor. Mine only seems to happen if I shut it down after running for awhile and then start back up within a few minutes. Thought maybe it was heat related, but we'll see.

I recently bought the XB12Ss Lightning Long. It's got the same basic dimension as the Uly, with different suspension. I've got 600 miles on it. I put the Buell race kit on as well. I have ZERO complaints at this point. It's simply a BLAST (no pun intended) to ride!

Buells make for great second bikes. I have a '97 S1 that is hot rodded. Its a great bike. You can't appreciate them until you own them.
Mine has .536 cams, headwork and a 6" over swingarm. Its a BLAST to ride.

RAY R, I have been thinking about buying the stretched version that you have. I actually just need to go to a Buell/HD shop and sit on one. But since I haven't yet, my concern is that I am a little big/tall for the bike. That is why I am interested in the longer model. How tall are you? I am 6'03 and weigh 190 pounds. Again, I need to just go sit on one.
