02 X1 Lightning~ Spit and Sputter??? Race ECM maybe?? Fuel Filter Replacement?

Hello,
I have an 02 Buell X1 Lightning. I enjoy the bike very much but have a small problem.
Once in a while whenever im riding the bike, if i hold the throttle steady at around 2500-3000 rpm in 2nd or 3rd gear (2nd more than 3rd), i will get a sputter and stumble from the bike. This started happening after i replaced the sparkplugs with the newer updated ones? Any input is appreciated.

Also, i was wanting to replace my fuel filter~ but noticed that the fuel lines are crimped on vs. clamped on. If i purchase the filter, is it okay that i clamp them on vs. recrimping them?

buell

The fuel filter could possibly cause that problem, but it is unlikely. You can use regular clamps on that filter without any problems.

I had that miss on 2 buells I worked on just like yours and fixed it with the Power Commander. Since you already have the race ECM not sure what to do. Can the race ECM be reflashed? if it can mabye that would solve the problem.

No disrespect to this site intended, but....

Are you aware of www.badweatherbikers.com ?

It is a very active Buell enthusiast's forum....should be a regular hangout for anyone with a Buell, or interested in them.

did they do the timing/tps adjustments when the race items were installed? This, along with reseting afv usually helps that problemo.

Start here first! Robin is right. TPS zero and CMP set. Reset the AFV. Next look for air leak at manifold. Then go from there.
