Price of safety

FYI-if interested

Wife just beginning to ride...bought her a Buell Blast...she loves it, fits her perfect.

I was concerned with the non-self-cancelling turn signals.

Right or wrong...I went to Radio Shack and bought 2...12 volt, 15 milliamp, 75 db buzzers.

Disconnected the two wires going to one of the front turn signals. Stripped a little more insulation off the buzzer wires...inserted the black buzzer wire into the female side (black wire) of the turn signal wiring and re-connected the wire (kinda force fit). Did the same with the buzzer's red wire with the other (blue) wire of the turn signal.

Turned key on...hit turn signal...and the dog-gone thing worked...

Connected the other buzzer to the other turn signal in the same way.

Wire-tied the buzzers to the wiring harness.

She hears the buzzer ??? hit the yellow cancel button.

$ 6.00, not including tax for peace of mind.

I have bitched several times on other sites about this exact issue. The Blast is marketed as an entry level bike, & new riders have enough on their hands just with the basic control of the bike without having to worry about leaving the signals on also. They really should be self canceling. Could be an extremely unfortunate situation to have a new rider with their signal on & an on coming car thinks they are going to turn & ends up doing a left turn in front of them.

Absolutely correct...they should be self canceling. Of course the price would go up a couple-a-hundred...still cheaper than an accident.

Like you said, they have enough to think about and do...let alone worrying about turning off the signal...

My wife also has to listen to the music playing in her head :-) she has a built in radio. I just hope that she keeps the volume down low enough so she hear her new turn signal buzzers.
