ulysses
I am looking to buy a Ulysses. Since it's been twenty years since I bought a new motorcycle-the 1988 Harley Electra Glide Sport I still have-I am wondering if anyone knows if the dealers are discounting off the sticker price on the new buells? If so, how much? What is a reasonable offer for a new one? In 1988 I paid exact sticker price: $8900. Wondering if anyone has purchased a Ulysses recently and what you paid. Thanks, Herm

Which Ulyssess? Std (very tall; $11,500), Touring(a little shorter, lots of storage; $12900), Police? (cool, unknown price)
I'd expect to pay MSRP, plus the usual stealership "setup & delivery fee"
Good luck with your purchase, lets us know how it works out!

I am leaning toward the Ulysses standard (with side bags) because I am 6'3" and I like that tall seat. The new touring model intrigues me, but I have to go sit on one and see if it is tall enough for me. Are you basing your answer re msrp on experience or just an educated guess? Herm

I walked into Shreveport HD yesterday, the bikes were MSRP, plus factory security, plus dealer setup, plus this and that, so yea, you will pay over MSRP, unless you get really lucky

this thing is a blast, real stable at speed on the blacktop, very forgiving on good dirt roads, but watch yourself, the speed sneaks up on this torquee beast.
the front brake saved me a ticket, brought me down to 60 from 85 in a radar pulse. He didn't think I saw him as he pulled 1/4 mile behind me.
I grew a halo.

My ex just paid ~$11K for the standard Ulysses at Eastside Harley. I rode it the other day, and it is FUN. It's also a tall bike; I have a 32" inseam and I'm on tip toes. The rear wheel bearings went out at 1100 miles; this is apparently a common problem with the Ulysses. Cheap Chinese parts? Porcelain replacements run around $400.

I'm 32 inches too, and also on my toes, going to soften the suspension some to see if that brings it down any. Good to know about the bearings, will keep an eye on that, thanks.

really feels strange not scraping the boards, and haven't found the nads to try and scrape something, but I'm getting there. May have to get a knee puck, cause I think that will be the first thing to touch down.

One other thing - my ex says this is his favorite bike. He has three BMW's and a Road King. He rides the Ulysses daily to work, which entails seven miles of dirt/gravel road before pavement. He put the big Touratech cases on, so he looks like he ought to be heading for Morocco. Not my thing, but he likes the storage space.

the bags are on their way. Wish they were here now, want to pack the camping gear and have an adventure.
Need to be on the north end of the Olympic forest for the 4th. I'm supposed to bring the oysters.

Sounds like your 4th will be a lot more fun than mine. I'm moving. Bleah.

at least you get to live somewhere new. Hope you get to get in a ride once in awhile.
I get to try a 500 mile ride on the Uly.
A discovery ride to Discovery Bay.

I so want to take this toy to SoCal. Whitelining a road couch is not fun. This nimble little slut is a E-ticket ride.
