Never had a Buell...

but would like one for a second bike. I currently ride a Road King Classic and would like something a little smaller just to scoot around on. What do you guys suggest? I'm 5'7" and have ridden Harley's and street bikes.

I have a Buell Ulysses as my ride everyday bike and love it. You might find it a little tall, I'm 5'10" and have to use the off road bike stretch to touch the ground.
The XB12Scg has a pretty low seat height so that might be an option.
Buell's love corners and are incredibly easy to ride. Go for it.

Yeah I'm with you. I have a Deluxe and have been missing sticking it in the curves every now and then. Been thinking about a Firebolt pretty seriously. Maybe finding a used one that's a couple of years old. I want to keep the Deluxe too. Never can have too many bikes or cars.

I have a XB Lightning, very easy to ride, and lots of fun. It gives my RoadGlide a break, too.

Most dealers will be happy to let you test ride one.

The lightning is the Buell i'm looking at. My Road King Classic is great but I wanted something that was smaller and zippy. Have you had any reliabiltiy issues? I'm looking at the CG version since I'm only 5'7".

I'd recommend going to www.badweatherbikers.com and looking at thier forums...its buell specific, much much info there. Personally, i'd go for a used tube frame Buell. You can pick one up for 3 to 5 grand, and they are grade A fun.

If you are short of inseam, skip the current Ulysesses, its TALL. Great bike, but you need an oxygen mask to climb on...

I *really* like the black and red XB12R Firebolt. There is really not much difffence beteween the Firebolt and the Lightning, other than the fairing and tail section, the underlying frame and engine are pretty much the same. The Lightning does have a model with a longer swingarm XB12SS, and one with a lower seat height, the XB12SCG.

Have had a '00 M2, '03 XB9R, and currently have an '04 XB12S. The XB12S (Lightning 1200) is an awesome bike, especially if you install the race kit. The Firebolt (900 and 1200) are excellent bikes too and look wicked, but in my opinion they are just damn uncomfortable after about 50 miles. Just my

I've got 36000 on my firebolt. Only real issue I've had is that about every 12-15000 I warp the front rotor. You won't have that problem unless you ride it like you should The more I ride it the more I'm impressed with it's abilities. Every time I'm shure I've pushed too much it just rolls on through. IMHO skip the tubers, too many drive train issues and not enough power.

I went the other way-I started with a 2001 Buell Cyclone M2L and then decide that I needed something more comfortable for longer rides and bought a RK. The Cyclone is a lot of fun to ride. It's quick, responsive and has a unique look.

Buells

Hi...I'm on my second Buell...my former bike was an S3T that I put 22,000 miles on with one mechanical failure (a speed sensor to run the speedometer). Sold it and replaced it with a Ulysses. You really can't go wrong with a Buell, they are reliable and frankly more fun to ride than anything else two wheeled. They're also one of the fastest bikes in the twisties that you will ever run across.

My recommendation to you would be to try out the lightning line.

- If you'd like a bit of a larger tank so you can go longer between fill ups, get the Buell SS (lightning long).
- If you want a bit of a more upright seating position, get the CityX.
- If you want a shorter bike, get the SCG

...enjoy!
