New Buells!
Check out Buell.com! the new XB12X Ulysses was unveiled today!
An "adventure-tourer", capable of on and off highway use...anyone wanna tour some goat trails?
Also released as the 06 XB12Ss, or Long Lightning (Longbolt?), with a wheelbase 4 inches longer than "stock" XB's
Thoughts and opinions??

I think that the new Ulysses is real neat.
As a matter of fact, it will probably be my next bike.
Looks perfect for the Mexican roads.
Add to it easy and low cost maintenance. (In comparasion to the Beemer)
And I just found a pristine 1100GS.
But, from the looks of things, Buell designed it to go head to head with the BMW GS's.
How do you say "Hasta la vista" in German?
Decisions, decisions!
Ride Safe,
Vettster

I would love to have one of the new Lightning's in the Sunset Orange. I hope one day to get a Buell as my second bike. One's not enough sometime.

The Buell Dualsport
Personally, with BMW quality decreasing over the past few years and the dealer network shrinking I think the Buell dualsport has a good chance at making quite a few conquest sales. The GS riders (who aren't stuck on the idea of having a round badge on the bike they ride) are doing a lot of talking about the new machine. And at a list price $6000 less than the GS and a dealer network like HD provides, look out...

I've been seriously considering a dual sport. The list is pretty short, either a BMW or Kawi KLR. Good to see this new Buel thrown into the mix. Could use a bigger fuel tank, maybe 6 gallons. Priced about as much lower than the BMW as it is over the KLR, but a 650 is too small. I'm just not 100% sold on Buell reliabilty.

I've got a '01 KLR 650, Motard lookin, 17" wheels, oversize front brake, pipe, Rosseller front suspension, ported head (of course) and it goes up for sale Monday as I start to find the deal on the new 12x.

Cycleworld review
Just finished the Cycleworld Sep 05 edition with its review of the XB12X -- article ends with the quote of one of their staff: "this thing is the best, the very best American Motorcycle ever!"
Can't wait until I can test ride one at my local stealer -- I think I might need a small touring bike for commuting!

I too think the Ulissys (sp) has a good chance.
However, there isn't $6,000 difference in MSRP. Buel is about 12, Beamer 15.
I have a R1200GS, great bike. There is a great comparo in the recent Cycle World (Sep) of the Buel, Beamer, and Ducati Multistrada.
The GS is clearly a better dual sport bike, IF that is what you want.

Hey ol Mil, you better look again. Most of the HD stealers here in Brew Town are dropping Buell. So much for a large stealer network !

I'm glad to see Buell adding models. The HD line needs the new blood. I'm considering a Lightning as a 3rd bike.
