01 buell m2 with 2307 mi white smoke!

my buddy bought this bike used with only 800 mi on it he rode last summer and had taken it to a dealer because it was always backfiring threw the carb. they said it was fixed . he rode about 400mi and it was still coughing and getting worse. in sept he parked it . we live in mi and he isnt a cold weather rider. he went out this spring to start it and it started right up but it was blowing white smoke out the exshaust . and with the seat off from checking the oil in blew the dip stick out. he said it was out side all winter and became uncovered at some point. my first thought was maybe condensation. i ask if he added oil to it before starting it and he did. ive lowered the oil and it doesnt blow out the dip stick now . now im going to drain the gas and clean the carb. is there any thoughts about why it would just start blowing white smoke.
