I think Michael Barnes Buell had a shot if his plastic cover wouldn't have came loose!

Barnes didn't do so well; he ended up 25th. That was Danny Eslick on #9 that was dicing for the lead for the first ~10 laps. Aftermarket bodywork came loose. He fought back from 64th place to 13th, only to get disqualified after the race for passing bikes when the "safety car" was out.
Shawn Higbee (Buell factory test rider) placed 5th on a near-stock bike assembled at the track the week of the race.
Go Buell!

I enjoyed watching the race. Eslick and the Buell team should do well once the bugs are worked out.

I saw most the race, it was pretty good.Seeing a Buell in the running for the lead at the beginning of the race was awsome. I almost cried when Danny Eslick got "knocked out" of the running.
There's always the next race...

The results of the race have been updated again, with Danny Eslick disqualified and penalized points for passing under the yellow flag, along with John Ashmead and Chris Peris (who hit Tommy Aquino) while doing the same thing.
It would be nice to see Buell riders take a real interest in AMA racing, and support the teams who carry our banner into the fray against the "nuclear sewing machines" that scream around the track at 15,000+ rpms, taking American titles and monies. We are ridiculed even in our own country, being called "Hillbillies" and "tractor riders" by psuedo-sophisticated, self righteous *** bike riders. I'd like to see folks get out and cheer for people like Shawn Higbee, who takes on the multi million dollar *** teams with a grass root effort, and the Richie Morris riders, Mike Barnes and Danny Eslick, who have more backing, but still are in the same business of trying to give us Americans back our pride. Shawn will be competing in Daytona Sportbike and American Superbike classes with his Buell 1125R, and I encourage any and all to get to a race and support him and the rest of the Buell contingent.

I am Danny's cousin so I have alot of interest in how he does. Here is a Danny Eslick and Buell update. Danny won race number 1 at Fontana. He killed the other bikes. He won it by a 2.5 second advantage. Here is the AMA site with the news.

Go Danny and Go Buell.

Test rode a 1125Cr today!
Man that thing rips !
pulls the front wheel in the first 3 gears just lighting the wick!
My palms and wrists are still killing me.
Those things are made for the track not the street!
Well maybe if I was 18 again I could ride it on the street, wonder if they make 12 inch apes for it LOL!

Danny swept the weekend on th Buell 1125R. Won both race 1 and 2 over Jamie Hacking on the Yamaha. This is historic. HD/Buell has never won a race in a major group. Way to go Danny!! We are all really pulling for you this year. See what happens when you throw one of the best American riders on the best American built sports bikes. We should all be proud of him.

That 1125R is a hot looking machine.. I might need to get one in a couple of years when they start depreciating a bit.
