new 01 white lightning

Went to my HD dealers open house summer sale today and they had a new 01 white lightning on the floor. This guy also has several new Buell bikes older than the 01 lightning. Never owned a Buell but I always liked the older lightning models particularly the white lightning model. I rode one in Daytona at the dealer ride program the first year they came out. What can anyone tell me about the 01 white lightning (good or bad). I know Buell had some serious quality problems somewhere around this time. I could probably get this new Lightning for around $8,500 or maybee less but I hear the 08 air cooled 12's will be listed for under $10,000. How much better bikes are the current air cooled fuel injected 1200's than the old white lightning's?

I wasn't aware they made a white lightning in 2001. 1998 and 2002 only I thought.

Just because the Lightning is white, does not mean its a White Lightning

BTW, Kelly Blue Book lists a 2002 X1W at $6040...the 1998 S1 is listed at $4885

White lightning in name only. Starting in 1999 all buells had the thunderstorm heads. If memory serves me, 1998 white lightning was special because it was the only model with thunderstorm heads.

I know my 1999 X1 had the high performance heads.

I thought the X1 white lightning was 2002 only as well. Mine is a 2002 X1 white lightning and it has X1W written on the tank cover and chin spoiler and X1 White Lightning on the flyscreen.
