Ported Twin Cam Heads
New option for head porting, I have been porting Harley heads for over 17 years. Porting my first Twin Cam heads in late '98. I have done hundreds of Evolution heads and am currently concentrating on the Twin Cams although I still do Evos. I also do the S.E. performance and C.V.O. heads, making improvements with them. Do not be fooled by the low price, this is a full port job with polishing of the exhaust tracts and combustion chambers. My experience allows me to use the most aggressive cutters in the industry, saving time when porting and I pass that savings on to the customer. Through lots of testing, and using the math, I have come to the conclusion that the valves are not the problem with the Twin Cam heads, it's the ports that require the mods to bring the heads in line and this is where I apply my work.
Feel free to contact me for any questions you may have.
Thanks, Bean

If anyone on the forum has used Big Boyz Cycles street heads and had the build dyno'd after, please let us know. We would like to see the sheets.

Hi Dave
Many different services are offered, CC'ing the heads is one of them. Others include boring your cylinders, milling the heads, installing compression releases, checking spring pressure and installing performance springs, to name a few.
Give Bean a call at 207-621-1001 and he can answer all your questions.

There is a TC and an EVO dyno sheet on the web page. Bean would prefer unsolicited dyno sheets though. We are hoping that some of the people here that try the heads will post their dyno sheets. We only hope they have a good tuner finish the setup.

I have had my build completed for all of a week and am pretty happy with the results. I am especially happy with the head work, street porting and polishing by Big Boyz. Now here is the deal, they aren't as mirror polished as Branch and Hannon, or Edelbrock's level of a polish. They are though very very well done. The material is removed where it needs to be removed and the ports opened up where they need to be opened up. The exhaust port is slightly reshaped to match the duration of the cam I am using(S&S510c). The cam stays open slightly longer on the exhaust so Bean had the exhaust port reshaped to a D config. It is funny, in that I am running longshots and when you stand about 6' back of the bike with it running you can actually feel the exhaust pulse that far back. It feels very strong indeed.
The builder was quite impressed with the heads and for 300 bucks, one week turnaround as promised and all questions answered asap these are the BEST bang for the buck out there. Matter of fact if I was going to do it over again I would have only done the cam and the heads. I think the biggest gains are made with these 2 mods. Maybe it was because I waited so long for my barrels to get done.
All in all I recommend Big Boyz highly. Bean and Springer know there **** for sure. Price and turn around time along with the customer service is first rate. You won't go wrong at all with these guys. In hind site I should have just shipped my freakin scoot up there and had them do everything from the borring and porting to the build. That is the way I feel anyways. keepem sharp
PS I can bring the front wheel off the ground in second gear

Mine are on the way
I just ordered mine from Bean on Friday. I'm going to try and install them myself. Bean and Springer have been very helpful in the process. I'll report back when I get them in.

I did my own cam and ported head install in February. Not bad as long as you REALLY pay attention to the service manual. Some things to watch out for when doing the heads, special tools are needed to torque some of the bolts, due to lack of clearance. I made my own "crow's foot" (torque adapter). You can buy them from McMaster-Carr. You need to re-calculate your torque values depending on how you use it! Mine turned out great, all the metal parts are still inside, and no leaks or anything. Also, this site ( http://www.harleyhog.co.uk/) has some good tips and another point of view on a lot of Harley wrenching.

Did you need any special torx or allen tools. Or are the normal ones ok? I've gotten the torque adapters from McMaster already. Just wondering if any sockets different from the normal are needed. Thank you.

A Question For Big Boyz
I would like to know more about porting S.E. PRO heads. It seems to me that the ports with the runners would be better (vortec?) than just open ports, but I do not know sh*t about porting heads.I have a new set sitting in the closet. Also have new gear drive set with 37Gs cams and a extra set of S&S 570Gs,cams only, Baisley 002 spring, Crane adj. push rods, Crane HI4TC ing.Mikuni 42 HSR, new stock HD lifters, and some other small items. I have not had my cylinders bored or bought my pistons yet. Already have S.E. air cleaner and S.E. Proformance slip ons on bike(03 FLHT). Any advice would be helpful. I have been told by some here that 37Gs with those heads is not for the way "WE" ride even if I were to lower the comp. a little(less on bott. and more on top because of larger ex. valve). I am not sure how "WE" ride, but I do not mind spinning the tach up myself. I will try to give you a call later next week.
Thanks
Lyn
