Head Porting.............Stimulus Package

Tool Finish

With the recent talk around the web about tool finished headwork, I'd like to throw a question out.......

What do you think about it?

I have used a tool finish for years on Evos, but haven't offered it for Twin Cams. We have been talking about bringing a lower priced head to the market that will still give worthwhile gains.

How's this:

We'll call them the "Street Heads, Stimulus Package".

....same port design as our Street Heads with tool finish ports and polished combustion chambers.........because the tool finish requires less labor, we can offer this design of headwork for $250.00

What'ya think?

I would not underprice your work. You are pretty cheap as it is.

We don't feel it is under pricing, just another offering. $50.00 less would help for some, others may feel that it is a superior finish. We could eliminate the polishing of the combustion chambers for more savings but feel the benefits of the polishing dictate keeping that.

We would still offer the standard Street Heads, which have ports that are sanded to different finishes.

Better than inexpensive, it's high value. You get a big bang on a modest dollar. That's probably all the headwork a lot of folks need or maybe even want?

you must listen to el rushbo. You are adapting and therefore will thrive when others sink. Makes me want to pick up a set of heads and have them ported by you just to be ready for the next build.

Not to argue, but only to make mention, that Smokey Yunick, did massive amounts of flow testing.
His findings showed that additional power was found, with very smooth port configuations. 3-4% gains.

3% to 4% more power, or more flow?

What do you think about it?

Everyone likes to save money, well 50 bucks here or there isn't a make or break deal to most that have invested in the labor and gaskets to pull the heads already.

I would think it is the head porters decision to provide the process that provides the best result based on their testing.

So I use my method, Hillside theirs and on and on.

Bean,

what do you think is the difference in street performance? Would the educated rider notice the difference?
