What about an '05 Sporty ???

Not installed on the bike yet, but trying to decide,
if it is still a good idea...??

I had this idea, before I saw this thread and when I read this thread,
I thought; this really is a good idea...., but I may have gone too far.

I got a "new" used backing plate, from ebay. Going to get a K&N.
Took a dremel and basically cut the "snorkel-thing" off the bottom.

I cut the entire bottom off...,
the bottom of backing plate is now right in line with the bottom of the stock filter. The entire bottom 1/4 of the backing plate doesn't exsist any more.

I'm wondering if I went too far ? If I dorked this up, I may just part with the bucks and get a Ness. Whatda ya think ????
