Nice to have a Road Glide thread.
I purchased my new Black Pearl 05 Road Glide back in Feb. last year and proceed to go nuts waiting for it to get warm out. I did take it out on a 45 degree day in Feb. This is my first Harley, I've been wanting one for a few years, and after riding over 7000 miles last summer I have no regrets. That's more miles in one season than I put on my 99 Honda ST1100 in 6 years.
I've been on a bunch of short weekend trips with it, plus I went to Sturgis with some friends. We made a long loop out through Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons and then stayed near Sturgis for a couple days. Couple things I noticed on the trip: Harley's will cruise at 80-100 mph all day, and they get much better fuel economy than the *** cruisers. We had one guy on an 1100 Shadow that had to stop every 80 miles for gas.
I haven't done anything to the motor yet, other than a 'Big Sucker' air cleaner, Touring mufflers, and a Power Commander III. I installed an XM radio and a mount for my iPod. It has rider and passenger backrests and luggage rack. Also a few minor things like highway pegs, trany interface cover and some bag liners.
Right now I have the fairing torn off, I'm getting the inner fairing and speedo bezel painted body color. I'm thinking about putting a M-6 auto chain tensioner in.
