It is significantly cheaper, I know it doesnt have all the tuning ability as the Tuner, but I am interested in what exactly it does do if you arent planning on installing more than Stage 1 and pipes.

The only thing that programs the ECM to compensate for modifications is the SERT. All the other devices trick the ECM into doing what it wants it to do. Some of the devices are more complex and therefor are more adjustable. The DFO and race fueler type devices essentially take your expensive and highly tunable ECM and turn it into a carb of sort. Giving you adjustments that act similar to changing jets in a carb.
To me, the SERT is the only device I would use but that doesn't mean that it is right for everyone.
