i've tried to "add hardware" to com 1 and it says it is working correctly. also left cable hooked up and rebooted. nothing changes. any ideas out there. in the instructions it says nothing about windows XP which i have. i would "assume" that this software supports XP but i don't know. think i need a different driver that supports XP.....

I have not used the version 4.5 yet but if it is similar look at post #6 in this thread. It will show you how to choose a com port. Also you don't use the add hardware to add a com port, XP should already have it detected.
Where is say to have the ignition on, you also have to have the RUN switch on your handlebars on.
