Oak, If it's for retirement you may put on way more miles than you think with all that free time.

I preferred the 1200 over 883 due to more power out of the box. Less expensive is go with the 883 and if you find you want more power, upgrade to 1200 for about $500 if you do your own work and use the stock heads. Let us know how you made out.
