yragbossa is on a distinguished road
I have a 2009 FLHT and was told by a number of dealer mechanics that loose compensator nuts are the main cause of primary noise. Auto tensioners that don't, then failed compensator springs.
My compensator failed about 32k miles. I am a lugger. When an engine has over 4 inch stroke it is not a rev machine. We only have 5k range, I am not giving up below 2000 RPM. I regularly lug to 1400 to 1500. I know that is why I killed the standard compensator. I have the Screamin eagle now and time will tell.
I have Andrews 48H cams and Jackpot dyno tuned mufflers so it is all freight train bottom end so 1500 in high gears is sweet!!!
Have them inspect it a 1k service. the primary should be quiet.
