Yes, we receive very good care. And I don't pay a penny for anything, other than just serving and the "costs" associated with that. It is funny, the military has a reputation of having terrible doctors. I guess people think they must be bad because otherwise they'd be in private practice making "millions". They get extra pay plus they don't have to pay for malpractice insurance and guess what-- some just want to serve their country. I would argue that our ortho docs are as skilled as any. Soldiers are good at really screwing their knees, shoulders, and backs up.
When I retire I can continue to be covered but I then have to pay. I don't know the cost but it's not very much. I'm not sure but I may also have some co-pays at that point. Honestly, I am not so close to retirement that I pay close attention so I don't know all of the specifics. But I am certainly not going to be in a bad position.
