The laws really need to change to impune the cell phone user if they get into an accident. For instance, if you run a red light and kill someone, you're in trouble. If you were drunk when you did it, you're toast (or should be). Same idea with the cell phone.
Well buddy, there have been several cases where an individual driving a car while talking on their phone have gotten into accidents. The cases where another individual got hurt have been really interesting. It seems that if a person is found to be talking on their phone while operating a motor vehicle and cause an accident hurting, or killing someone, they are subject to neglegance charges, and if the D.A. wants to, they can throw MANSLAUGHTER at them. In most cases they have not been severly punished, I have heard from 2 to 5 years in prison thrown around if it was a horrible enough scenario. I am like you, why not treat these idiots like a drunk driver.
