cts1950 is on a distinguished road
I think I have tried way too many mufflers and pipe configurations. After all the fooling around the best muffler for sound and keeping quiet has to be the S&S spo mufflers. I think they are better on the standard y pipe headers than on a true dual setup for over all quietness. While fighting reversion issues with my fuel injection I went to true duals with the spo mufflers they got a lot louder. I have tried the fat cat 2 into 1 with quiet baffle those stayed on the bike less than two weeks too loud and way too much heat cooking my right leg. I got desperate and removed the T out of the stock headers and made them into a 2 into 1 set up and with the spo muffler on one side only I have found what I have been looking for. A very pleasant low rumble but not loud. It seems the greater volume of exhaust flowing through the muffler takes the sharp bark out of them. I may have given up some power but the enjoyment of riding is a worthwhile trade off.
