I stand on my original quote of I sure would not have reinstalled those rings...
When I did my HQ build they sent me the wrong pistons. Discovered it during a compression test at 60 miles so I had to replace them with the right ones. HQ told me to reuse the rings. They reassured me several times that this was the right thing to do. I haven't had any problems.
You don't think HQ was saving money by you reusing the old rings do you?
As cheap as a set of rings are why would you want to leave them to chance????? Thats like reusing your oil filter when you change oil...
