Lots of discussion on pipes for FXR's. V&H Straightshots are some of the best looking(imho), but tend to be really loud. V&H doesn't make any quiet baffles for these pipes, but if you are handy you can do it. I purchased quiet baffles (#21869) which are too small in diameter to fit the Straightshots as is. I used the stock baffles, and cut about
1 1/2" pieace off each end (where the baffles is ID to fit the pipe). With a little cleaning up (filing and sanding) these "sleeves" will be a snug fit on the ends of the quiet baffles where they are straight walled to fit inside of the appropriate pipes. I fit these sleeves onto the q-baffles and tack welded them in place. Perfect fit in the Straightshots! The q-baffles took most of the offensive noise out and I am now happy with the V&H pipes. Made a BIG difference in overall sound. Worth the couples hours screwing around. If anyone wants pics of the baffles and the modifications, send me an email and I will send you some pics.
