Jan - I have the supertuner on my bike. As others have said the canned maps that comes with the the tuner starts with Screming Eagle Race tuner and free(er) flowing mufflers. If you have that or plan to do it I would go for it at install ther super tuner or the old race tuner. The gain is CONTROL. You will likely find that the appropiate canned map for your engine runs fine. You have a 07 - which means that you hve narrow band O2 sensors in your exaust. You will see that HD in a big area of the appropiate map runs 14,6 AFR ... At JUST that AFR the O2 sensors are active making sure you are actually getting something very close to 14.6 even if the actual VE of your engine differs sligthly
Alternative is a "download" from the dealer - allthough it is cheaper it is allso lost money if you in the future have plans for more engine modifications. Above all you don't know what you get
With the race tuner (with or without SUPER) you can see directly in the map. True- if you want your spcific map to be spot on in VE you have no alternative but to get it proper tuned. But if your engine just has A/C and free flowing mufflers - you'll be happy with the canned maps... And if you with the canned map have issues - you can adjust ..
What I have done: New bike 103 cu-in Stage 2 kit installed by dealer + SE mufflers.. Found the right map and assume the VE is pretty close. I have lowered all AFR 14.6 cells to 14.0. the result is that the engine in those areas runs a litthe richer than intended (by emmision control) Further more I have lowered AFR to 13.0 in the Idle region - That alone takes a lot of heat away - and it seems like I can stay in traffic jams forever..
Now the bike has 4500 km on the clock - and I MAY get it tuned.... Or at least I planned to - but I'm actually happy the way it runs ...Strong power - no "issues", no popping - nothing to complain about - so why mess with something that works
Further more I have lowered the cold idle a bit and lowered the temperature where the engine goes to normal idle
As you can see - you get CONTROL ... .... No need letting the dealer do it - it is straight forward
