cts1950 is on a distinguished road
I have a 1999 A type motor with the oil pan under the tranny. Yours being a dana is the oil in the same location. I noticed that the later motors have additional o rings between the block and cam plate. where the earley motor did not. just to make sure I got oil I put a light coating of rtv between the cam plate and block where the non ringed passages were. I had a issue with the pressure regulator on my plate it was stuck open. I did get oil pressure but not much, most of the oil was recirculating inside the pump. You might try raising the rear tire of the ground with the spark plugs out and pumping oil into the oil pressure switch port and turn the rear wheel backwards in 5th gear to rotate the engine backwards to suck oil back into the pump to prime it.
