I have a few questions and concerns, and I hope you guys can help me.
I have a 2006 Road King Classic with V&H slip-on Turndowns (standard baffles), SE air cleaner and stage-1. I have had the bike for about a year and have just short of 4000 miles on it. Since this was my first Harley and I was not satisfied with the stock exhaust I had the dealer do the muffler and air cleaner install (wish I had done it myself) they told me I needed a Stage-1 download or the bike wouldn’t run well so I agreed and paid for it. Since the beginning the bike has popped on decal, on gear shifts up or down, backfired/popped through the breather and surges a constant throttle in 3rd or 4th gear. It also runs very hot at low speed in traffic. I ride with other guys with stock and modified systems and my bike starts overheating and low idling well before theirs. My bike sounds great with these muffles and everyone comments on how great it sound and how good the turndowns look but the performance is lacking.
I have had the dealer check everything since he did the work and he just tells me it’s because the system is not stock. If I want it better I need to buy a SERT and have it dyno-ed and tuned. Sounds like more money for HD and out of my pocket. I asked about the Fuel-Pak and the PCIII and their answer is that it will make it some better but will not fix my problems.
After reading this forum I am convinced a Fuel-Pak will help my situation. I am not looking for perfection maybe a 70-80% solution.
Will the Fuel-Pak help the surging in constant throttle?
Will the Fuel-Pak help with the low speed overheating?
Will the Fuel-Pak help with the popping through the breather?
I live in Hawaii and I expect to pay $274.00 tax and S/H included is this a good price or would you risk an EBAY?
Is there any way to know if they really did the stage 1?
I know I have a lot of questions and I have asked many people but no one I know has a Fuel-Pak.
Please help
