My question is shouldnt you pull the battery and leave it out untill all the plugging & unplugging of the electric lines are finished. And what is the stage 1 kit on the ECU? I thought the stage 1 kit is the screaming eagle carb kit. I'm a fuel inj. virgin.
I was going to go with the cobra kit but didnt want to mess with alot of lines. Changing the exhaust & aircleaner is enough for me. If I wanted a fast bike I wouldnt have bought a Harley.

Hi.
I think on your night train, the battery removal maybe needed for access to where the unit mounts or where the ECU is mounted. I am not real sure where the ECU on a softail is, I have a tour bike and I did not need to touch the battery.
It was common in the early years of car computer to teach you to always have the battery unhooked, and use ground straps and Blaa Blaa blaa, all of this has fallen by the wayside for the most part. as long as you have the key off, and the negative cable off the battery, you can on most cars unplug and plug in computers with no risk to the unit at all.
If you do not need to remove the battery to get to the ECU, then most likely your ok to leave the battery there.
But it does not hurt to remove it either, your choice.
