Headliner speculation...

There was an article in today's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel with some speculation on the identity of the headliner for the Sunday party.

Some names that had been mentioned include the Rolling Stones and Elton John. The Stones (unfortunately) seem unlikely, as they are playing a tour in Europe at the moment, with dates on either side of Sunday the 31st. Flying the group, equipment, roadies, etc. back and forth in time would seem to be a very tall order, if not outright impossible.

Elton John is a possibility: When contacted by the newspaper, his publicity people seemed well aware of the events in Milwaukee, although they claimed they could not comment.

According to the article, there are only four people in all of Harley-Davidson who know the identity of the headlining act, and the company isn't even saying who those people are...

When looking over the list of entertainers that have been announced, one group is notable by its absence: ZZ Top. The Texas trio has been a fixture of prior Harley events, and I would be very suprised if they did not appear on Sunday, as a warm-up act, if not the headliners.

Ozzy is a good possibility. Him & Sharon sang the 7th inning stretch song at Wrigley Field in Chicago the other day.

Yes.. at least thats what was in the local (Milwaukee) paper. My girlfriend (who works for the MoCo) and I think that this would not go over too well with a lot of the crowd. Elton John had his hits, but a fifty-something gay English guy doesn't strike me as quite the Harley mold.

Personally I'm hoping for the Eagles - they are a thoroughly American group, their music appeals to a pretty wide age spectrum, and of course their name happens to be a symbol of a well known American motorcycle company. Whether Harley is willing to spend the money to coax these California cool cats out of retirement or not is another matter.

The Doobie brothers were on stage followed by Tim McGraw, next was Kid Rock. The big suprise is coming up next. The crowd isnt real happy & appears to be very disappointed so far. Many many people are leaving.

I cant wait to get the paper tomorrow to find out. All 3 local newscasts signed off. Usually they will stay on quite a while for events like this for continuing coverage, but all the folks they were interviewing were either kinda pissed off or simply had more of a "whatever" kind of attitude.

Even the news anchors were trying to make excuses up.

2+ hr long waits for food today also!!

Left after about 20 minutes of Kid rock, glad I did. I'm damn lucky I could find my bike. Did meet some decent people from St Louis, Phoenix and Wis though.

Hey, now I know how to clear out a VTF gathering if I've had enough I can bust out an Elton John 8 track .
Man that show sucked.

What were they thinking?? After we and about 3/4 of the crowd had cleared out there was an awesome looking fireworks show in my mirrors.

Bummed
