JDK20723 is on a distinguished road
I don't have much knowledge of their system, so can't really comment on theirs, other than both are Alpha-N systems with dual wide-band oxygen sensors providing feedback for full-time closed loop fuel corrections.

When Zipper's first decided an EFI management system would be needed to be able to continue selling our engine kits as an all-inclusive package, we looked at their system and decided to go in a different direction. Since then we partnered with Thunder Heart to develop the ThunderMax. Initially, the system was sold for over 3 years as an 'open loop' system.

We set out to develop a base map library that would us to provide pre-mapped units with our engine kits. At the same time we made maps for lots of other applications while the closed loop system was being perfected. Now, with the addition of the AutoTune module and oxygen sensors and our growing library of base maps, getting a system on most bikes and ready to ride is an easy couple of hours of work, and can be done without a dyno. By choosing and installing the base map that is closest to your build, you have the advantage of having a map that already has timing curves built, warm-up maps done, etc (but still editable by the user). Tricky processes like adjusting the IAC stops are handled automatically by the module's firmware and software during initial set-up and while the bike is ridden. Fuel is adjusted or corrected by just riding the bike. You can control the AFR by either choosing an overall AFR target or by setting the AFR on individual map pages (64 adjustable points every 256 rpm) if you want to target specific ranges for best power or fuel mileage.

Software, firmware and map updates are free (with an internet connection) so once you buy the system, you'll always be able to keep it up to date with new features that become available. The system also has monitoring functions, rpm and engine temperature logging, and a diagnostics page that checks the systems and sensors.

But I really feel the advantage is in the maps. These are highly refined maps developed by Zipper's for lots of different applications. The software allows a range of fuel and ignition adjustments (two levels of software are available; 'Basic' that is supplied with every module, and 'Advanced' which is a dealer-based version that allows more tuning lattitude for experienced tuner equipped with the tools to use it). Between the maps and the flexibility of the software, there's not much that can't be done with it.

I'd say the best way for you to make your evaluation is to download the instructions for both systems and see which you feel would be the easiest for you to use. I hope this helps. Thanks, JK
